This fat guy was the best part...

Malcolm is so sweet. He handled being mauled like a champ and the kids couldn't get enough of him (neither could we). When we left (even after extending our time with them to go to Durango where the boys camped), Max said how he missed him and had an idea so we didn't have to miss him so much. He suggested we just change Silas's name to Malcolm so we didn't forget him (since we shut him down on the trading babies idea.) It was so great hanging out with them and taking a little vacay with some Udalls.

Some were good, some were bad.

On our way to Albuquerque... Trinidad, Colorado

From day one of our marriage, Brig and I have had this obsession with finding awesome, quaint small towns with the hopes of discovering our perfect residence. Trinidad put us closer to that perfection. It is an old mining town (and was once a cattle crossroads). With 10,000 people, it has just enough life. The kids loved the splash park and wading in the river. We rode the trolley around town and learned all about its interesting past. It was the half-way point between Denver and Albuquerque.

Celebrating Si Guy's 1st Birthday

Silas's new favorite word is "ball." He loves to throw baseballs and play catch so we made these cute cupcakes. Everyone pitched in. Max and Avalon made the mix, Aunt Jewls came up with the design and decorated, Little Grandma finished them off, and Mom and Dad and Silas ate them! Silas ate his first birthday Happy Meal and devoured the cupcake. He played at the PlayPlace and then we opened presents in the evening. His favorite present was the awesome stacking ball that Little Grandma and Grandpa Craig gave him. It was so great to spend our last day in Denver celebrating with them and Aunt Jewls. We are missing them. We will always have great memories of our summer in Colorado, which will be hard to top.
